SRAFFANS: FACIAL STRUCTURE Their faces are long and extremely thin. They have two saucerlike eyes, set wide, which dilate and undilate smoothly and repetitively during conversation. They have no nose, breathing instead through gill-like apertures in the aural cavities. The translucence of their facial skin reveals (in disconcerting detail) the contents of their mouths as they chew; and one can follow the progress of food through their throats as it slips into the stomach and out of sight. They look silly in hats.
